Alex Wolf began earning significant money on the internet in her early twenties through her iconic digital brand Boss Babe, which was the first tech company she founded and exited in 2018. The money came fast and at a scale unusual for someone her age—a phenomenon the internet is beginning to make more and more common. Alex thought she was buying freedom.

That scary experience gave her an early view into a problem an entire generation of creators would eventually face: the internet is good at helping people make money but not good at helping them keep, protect or organize it.
